 Last week we gave the nominees of the eSports Award 2009 the chance to advertise themselves to the academy, and give out a "for your consideration" statement. All in all 40 different players and editors as well as 20 teams and organisations enter the race for this year's trophies. Every nominee or his manager could send in a statement.  At the end of August the greatest achievements within eSports since the last award are going to be honored. With the nominations of the sixth eSports Awards we have now reached the final phase. The eSports Award Academy will receive the nominees list next week and will determine the winners of the eSports Award 2009. |

This year we subdivided the “eSports Player of the Year“ award into six regional awards: America, China, Korea, Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Northern Europe. |

 From June 19th until July 5th the eSports fans could vote for their favorite eSports source number #1. Thousands of readers participated in the voting and decided who advanced to the top ten. The eSports Award Academy will determine the winner of the Best Coverage Award out of this top ten. |

The “eSports Player of the Year“ award is subdivided into six regional awards: America, China, Korea, Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Northern Europe. For the first time we honor the best Call of Duty 4 player, the Consoles Player of the Year, the Consoles Team of the Year, the Best Halo 3 Player and the eSports Photo of the Year each with a specific award.  At the Games Convention, which is going to take place at Leipzig trade fair in about one month, the greatest achievements within eSports since the last award are going to be honored. The winners will be determined by the eSports Award Academy. With the nominations of the fifth eSports Awards we have now reached the final phase. On 23rd of August at 8 pm CET the new winners within the eight categories are to be honored. The whole ceremony is going to be broadcast on ESL TV and is also going to be available as a free live stream. |

Especially Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel held an overwhelming speech about his time in eSports, his goals and the things he saw.  Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel is awarded the first Lifetime Achievement Award in the four-year history of the eSports Award. Wendel claims the honor for showing exceptional sportsmanship, taking part in shaping eSports into what it is today and for being the prime representative of this young sport. |
